The Meloncoly of Moonboy

Moon Boy

By A F. Bedwell

There once was a boy with a head shaped like the moon. He would sleep of the morning from 6am till noon. Then out of his front door he would quietly creep, his great heads glowing light pale, silvery and weak.

No one would let him take part in their games. Concealed behind their fingers they called him mean names.

Most of the time people preferred the company of the sun, warm, smiling and glowing she was much more fun. Though sometimes she’d hide or cry behind a cloud, sometimes she would burn others or act overly proud.

Moon boy was quite, a loner and a bit of a geek. Most other people called him a bobble headed freak.

Until such time as the sun went away, only then would the children invite Moon boy to play.

Darkness would creep in as the suns light soon faded, Moon Boys glow brightened as silently he waited. Soon Moon Boys light was shinning and strong. Where ever he strolled people followed along.

He strolled through the town shining on warmly lit homes. One by one pople would slip thru their doors and leave moon boy all alone.

Night after night this scene kept repeating. Until weak sad and tired he felt his energy depleting.

One day Moon boy decided enough was enough, so he abandoned the people for all thier unfriendly rebuffs.

After all even Moon Boy deserved a vacation. He needed to escape all the constant frustration.
