The Little Match Girl is one of my favorite christmas stories growing up. The sad tale of a lonely young orphan trys to make her living selling matches to the wealthy people in Denmark. Seeking to escape the cold she burns one match at a time, each one a wishful dream of warmth and family. As with most orginal tellings of fairy tales this one has a tragic end as the Little match girl freezes to death in the night.
